StringMatch (stringmatch.app) is a free AI-powered racket string recommendation tool for Tennis, Badminton, and Squash players. We are the data controller for any personal data collected through this website.

2. What data we collect

Data you give us directly:

• Email address — only if you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter or updates via the sign-up form. We do not require an email to use the app.

Data stored in your browser (not on our servers):

• Quiz answers and results — when you complete the string finder quiz, your answers and your top string recommendation are saved to your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser data.

Data collected automatically:

• Server logs — our web server automatically logs standard request data: IP address, browser type, referring URL, and pages visited. These logs are used for security and debugging and are not linked to your identity.
• Cookies from Google AdSense — we display ads via Google AdSense. Google uses cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to our site and other sites on the internet. See the Cookies section below.

Data we do NOT collect:

• We do not collect your name, address, phone number, or payment details
• We do not require account registration
• We do not track your quiz answers on our servers

3. How we use your data

We use data only for the following purposes:

• Email address — to send you updates, new guides, and product news you subscribed to. We never sell or share your email with third parties for marketing.
• Server logs — to monitor performance, diagnose errors, and protect against abuse. Logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days.
• Advertising — Google AdSense uses cookies to display relevant ads. We receive a share of ad revenue. We do not control which ads are shown.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling in any way that has a legal or similarly significant effect on you.

4. Cookies and advertising

We use the following types of cookies:

• Essential cookies — required for the site to function (e.g. service worker caching for offline support). These cannot be disabled.

• OpenAI / AI provider — when you request an AI explanation of your string result, your player profile (quiz answers, not your identity) is sent to an AI API to generate a response. No personally identifiable information is sent.

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to access — request a copy of personal data we hold about you
• Right to erasure — request deletion of your personal data
• Right to rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
• Right to object — object to processing of your data for certain purposes
• Right to withdraw consent — unsubscribe from email communications at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email we send

Your quiz data is stored only in your own browser. To delete it, clear your browser's localStorage or site data for stringmatch.app.

7. Data retention

• Email addresses — retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
• Server logs — deleted after 30 days
• Browser localStorage — controlled entirely by you; expires or persists based on your browser settings

8. Children's privacy

StringMatch is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Continued use of StringMatch after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
